Real estate strategy and new ways of working “CC-New Work” 1 .200 employees, 30 .000 m2 . BICG’s work comprised of reforming the bank’s current working processes covering areas such as a unified culture, organization, improved technologies, and custom designed office spaces.

 

 

Starting Point

 

  • Following the acquisition of AKB bank, Grupo Santander planned to centralize all of their regional units into one location, creating a German headquarter in Mönchengladbach. Taking advantage of this move and the construction of a new building, Santander decided to formulate a New Work strategy in conjunction with BICG.

 

Project Aims

  • Create a pilot project for the New Work strategy.
  • Develop and define a unified culture for the new bank.
  • Design a business park where to centralize all strategic business units.
  • Increase the motivation and productivity of employees, through a customized working environment and added-value spaces and services.
  • Create a flexible work environment, which can adapt to the needs of the employees and to the challenges facing the bank.

 

Scope of BICG’s involvement and work

  • Reform the bank’s current working processes under the umbrella of the New Work Strategy, covering areas such as an unified culture, organization, improved technologies, and custom designed office spaces. The changes brought about by the strategy analysed both the current state of Grupo Santander and its future prospects and projections.
  • Create the required spaces and implement the necessary technologies for a seamless move between working in the office, home and on the road.
  • Work with architects on designing the new building, in order to create a customized suite of office spaces with a central emphasis on function.

 

Results

  • Successful move into the new headquarters.
  • Currently performing a post hoc analysis.
